NOTE: This Program can only be administered after a failure occurs. The decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS0721" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. Use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

December 31, 1996Problem
D8L link assemblies, track roller groups, and track roller shells are no longer available. When D8L undercarriage needs replacement due to wearout, an upgraded system incorporating D8N components is required.

Parts Needed
Refer to Special Instructions SEHS9720 for required parts.
Action Required
D8L link assembly replacement requires that new D8N track rollers also be installed. D8L idlers and sprockets can continue to be used and will continue to be serviced.
Two options are available for D8L undercarriage replacement:
Option A
Install a new D8N link assembly and track roller groups.
OR
Option B
Install a new D8N link assembly and reshelled track roller groups.

NOTE: The above SERVICE CLAIM ALLOWANCES reflect Caterpillar's participation towards the cost of converting from D8L to D8N undercarriage. This does not reflect any particpation toward the cost of new undercarriage.
