Usage:
NOTE: This Program must be administered as soon as possible. When reporting the repair, use "PI1237" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI1237" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
NOTE: This Revised Service Letter replaces the December 22, 1993 Service Letter which was Suspended/Revised January 1994. Changes have been made to the Problem, Affected Product, and Parts Needed. Parts Stock Action has been added. If this Program was implemented before it was suspended, it will need to be implemented again.
Problem
The parking brake discs, in certain 994 Wheel Loaders, need to be replaced with discs that have been heat treated and shot peened. These new discs, that have been heat treated and shot peened, will be used as an interim fix until a repair is available that has a longer service life.

Rework Procedure
1. place machine on flat ground. Lower bucket. block tires so that machine cannot move. Pump brake pedal until brake accumulators are completely discharged.
2. Disconnect end of 8R8515 Joint Group connected to parking brake by removing four 9X6480 Bolts. See Illustration 1.
3. Move four 8T0357 Bolts (or 8T0281 preferably) from stored location (shallow holes ) to parking brake disengage location (deep holes). Screw bolts to disengage brakes. See Illustration 2.
4. Remove two 1061866 Cylinders from parking brake by removing 8T7013 Bolts. Set cylinders aside, leave hydraulic hose connected to cylinders. See Illustration 2.
5. Remove 1002719 Plate by removing four 8T5002 Bolts. See Illustration 2.
6. Remove four existing 1002714 Discs and three 1004910 Plates. Install the new 1162386 Discs and the three 1004910 Plates removed. See Illustration 2.
7. Install the 1002719 Plate and four 8T5002 Bolts. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 125 ± 20 N·m (94 ± 15 lb ft). Turn the bolts an additional 180° ± 5°.
8. Connect the two 1061866 Cylinders to the parking brake. Install the 8T7013 Bolts and tighten them to a torque of 125 ± 20 N·m (94 ± 15 lb ft). Turn the bolts an additional 180° ± 5°.
9. Loosen the bolts to engage the brakes. Move four bolts to the stored location (shallow holes ) from the parking brake disengage location (deep holes).
10. Connect the end of the 8R8515 Joint Group to the parking brake. Install the four 9X6480 Bolts and tighten them to a torque of 520 ± 20 N·m (385 ± 15 lb ft).
