(1) The size of the pin differs for each model.
(2) Used for H110E S, H115E S, H120E S, and H130E S.
(3) Used for H140E.
(4) Used for H160E and H180E.

  1. Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

  2. Use Tooling (D) and a suitable lifting device to place housing assembly (4) in an upright position on a concrete surface. The surface of the hammer housing must not be damaged or worn. The concrete surface must be level and clean. If the conditions are not stable, secure the hammer to ensure that hammer cannot fall. Refer to Table 2 for the approximate weight of housing (4).

  3. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device onto hydraulic hammer (2). Refer to Table 3 for the approximate weight of hydraulic hammer (2).

  4. Loosen support plate (3).

  5. Slowly remove hydraulic hammer (2) from Tooling (C) and Tooling (B).

    Note: Ensure that the wear plates are properly positioned in the housing before you install the hammer into the housing.

  6. Install hydraulic hammer (2) into the hammer housing.

  7. Ensure that the hammer is secure, in an upright position, and cannot fall.

  8. Install dust covers (1) onto both sides of the hammer.

End By:

  1. Install the buffer. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly, "Buffer - Remove and Install".

  2. For applications using an auto lube system refer to TIBU7012Technical Information Bulletin, "E-Series Hydraulic Hammer Lower Bushing U-Cup Seal Restriction" to prevent the protective tool retaining pin dust plugs on the housing from pushing out.
