  1. Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

  2. Use Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to install hydraulic accumulator (5). Refer to Table 2 for the approximate weight of hydraulic accumulator (5).

  3. Install Tooling (A).

  4. Apply Tooling (C) onto bolts (4). Install bolts (4). Tighten bolts (4) in a criss-cross pattern to a torque of 250 N·m (184 lb ft). Again tighten bolts (4) in a criss-cross pattern to a torque of 500 N·m (369 lb ft).

  5. Install plugs (3) and plug (2).

    Note: Lubricate the O-ring seals with clean hydraulic oil.

  6. Install plug (1).

  7. Ensure that the hammer is secure, in an upright position, and cannot fall.

  8. Charge the accumulator. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic Accumulator - Test and Charge".

End By:

  1. Install the buffer.
