Oil Pan

Usage:

Remove & Install Oil Pan

Fluid Spillage Containment

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "Tools And Shop Products Guide", NENG2500 for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

1. Drain the oil from engine into a suitable container for storage or disposal.

2. Remove tube assembly (1) and dipstick tube (2).

3. Remove bolts (3) that hold oil pan in place. Remove oil pan (4) and the gasket.

NOTE: The following steps are for the installation of the oil pan.

4. Inspect the oil pan gasket and replace if necessary.

5. Install two 3/8 in-NC Guide Bolts in the block and put oil pan (4) and the gasket in position and install bolts (3).

6. Connect dipstick tube (2) and tube assembly (1).

7. Fill the crankshaft with oil to the correct level. See the Operation & Maintenance Manual.
