Usage:
Earlier:
(1) Torque for impeller nut ... 75 N·m (55 lb ft)
Tighten farther, if needed, to install cotter pin.
(2) Clearance between impeller and cover ... 0.13 to 0.50 mm (.005 to .020 in.)
(3) Torque for pulley nut (fresh water pump only) ... 135 N·m (100 lb ft)
Tighten farther, if needed, to install cotter pin.
(4) Bore in bearing ... 31.689 ± 0.050 mm (1.2475 ± .0020 in.)
Maximum permissible bearing clearance ... 0.20 mm (.008 in.)
(5) Diameter of pump shaft ... 31.636 ± 0.013 mm (1.2455 ± .0005 in.)
(6) Shaft end clearance ... 0.05 to 0.15 mm (.002 to .006 in.)
Maximum permissible end clearance of shaft ... 0.23 mm (.009 in.)
Later:
(1) Oil seal. Put engine oil on the seal lip. Assemble with the lip toward the bearings.
(2) Seal. Put a thin layer of engine oil in the bore for the seal.
(3) Water seal and ring:
a. Put engine oil on the seal.
b. Install the seal and ring together in the hosing bore, with the shiny face of the ring outside.
(4) Seal assembly:
a. Remove the spring from the seal.
b. Put water inside the seal assembly.
c. Install the seal assembly around the shaft, with the 7N7843 Installation Tool, until the carbon face makes contact with the shiny face of the ring.
d. Install the spring.
(5) Torque for impeller nut ... 75 N·m (55 lb ft)
Tighten farther, if needed, to install cotter pin.
(6) Bore in bearing ... 31.689 ± 0.050 mm (1.2475 ± .0020 in.)
Maximum permissible bearing clearance ... 0.20 mm (.008 in.)
Diameter of pump shaft ... 31.636 ± 0.013 mm (1.2455 ± .0005 in.)
(7) Clearance between impeller and cover ... 0.13 to 0.50 mm (.005 to .020 in.)
