  1. Loosen bolts (4) , (5) and (6) . Remove belts (3) .

  1. Remove bolts (2) and fan (1) .

  1. Remove bolt (7) and washer (8) . Install spacers (10) on bolt (7) . Add spacers in order to obtain approximately 3.18 mm (0.125 inch) of clearance between washer (8) and crankshaft vibration damper (9) . Install bolt (7) , washer (8) and spacers (10) .

  1. Install Tool (A) , as shown. Loosen crankshaft vibration damper (9) .

  1. Remove Tool (A) , bolt (7) , washer (8) , spacers (10) and crankshaft vibration damper (9) .

  1. If necessary, remove bolts (11) and crankshaft vibration damper (9) from crankshaft pulley (12) .

Installation Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


    Note: Inspect the crankshaft vibration damper for leaks and dents. If either condition exists, replace the crankshaft vibration damper with a new part.

  1. Use bolts (11) in order to Install crankshaft pulley (12) on crankshaft vibration damper (9) .

  1. Install crankshaft vibration damper (9) with bolt (7) and washer (8) .

    Note: The flat side of washer (8) must be installed facing crankshaft vibration damper (9) .

  1. Tighten bolt (7) to a torque of 284 to 340 N·m (210 to 250 lb ft). Hit bolt (7) with a hammer and torque the bolt again to 284 to 340 N·m (210 to 250 lb ft) .

  1. Install fan (1) and bolts (2) .

  1. Install belts (3) . Apply tension to belts (3) and tighten bolts (4) , (5) and (6) . Use a belt tension gauge to measure the belt farthest from the engine. Tighten new belts to 534 ± 22 N (120 ± 5 lb). Tighten used belts to 400 ± 44 N (90 ± 10 lb) .

  1. Install the radiator and install all of the appropriate guards. Operate the engine at high idle for a minimum of 30 minutes. Check the tension of the belts and ensure that bolts (4) , (5) and (6) are tight.
