3500 GENERATOR SET ENGINES Caterpillar

1. Remove filter assemblies (5).

2. Remove elbow (4) and the gasket. Remove the O-ring seal from the tube.

3. Fasten a hoist and tooling (A) to oil filter base (3).

4. Remove bolts (1) and the bolts holding the bottom of the oil filter base to the straps.

5. Remove oil filter base (3). The weight of the oil filter base is approximately 39 kg (86 lb) for an oil filter base with four filter assemblies.

6. Remove tube (2). Remove the O-ring seals from the tube.

NOTE: Put clean oil on all seals before assembly.

NOTE: For installation of the oil filter base, reverse the removal steps.

7. Fill the engine with oil to the correct level. See the Maintenance Manual.
