Preparing the Machine

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.

Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.

Make sure all of the work tools have been lowered to the ground, and the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

----------------------

  1. Park the machine.

Note: Refer to "Machine Parking" in the Operation and Maintenance Manual for your machine.

  1. Release hydraulic system pressure.

Note: Refer to "Release Procedure (Hydraulic System Pressure)" in the Disassembly and Assembly Manual for your machine.

Operation of Work Tool Coupler Control

------ WARNING! ------

Improper attachment of work tools could result in injury or death.

Do not operate this machine until you have positive indication that the coupler pins are fully engaged. Check for engagement by:

  1. Tilt the work tool down.

  1. Put down pressure on the work tool.

  1. Back the machine up and make sure that the coupler pins do not disengage from the work tool.
----------------------

Illustration 33g01302142

To disengage the coupler pins, push the red button (U) upward and press the BOTTOM of the switch. Hold the switch in the down position until the coupler pins disengage.

To engage the coupler pins, press the TOP (V) of the switch and hold the TOP (V) of the switch until the coupler pins engage.

Note: If the coupler pins will not engage at low idle engine speed, repeat the procedure with the machine in high idle.

Note: Refer to the Operations and Maintenance Manual for more information on the operation of the work tool coupler control.
