The former thrust washer

New thrust washers are used in the differential groups in the off-highway trucks. The new thrust washers have three tabs (1) that hold the thrust washer in position. The new design that contains tabs has proven to handle the radial forces in the differential better than the former screw retention design or the former dowels. The new thrust washers incorporate a change of material that improves service life of the thrust washers. The new design that contains tabs and the change of material will allow the thrust washers to operate until the planned component rebuild.

Adaptable To: The new 309-7671 Thrust Washer replaced the former 273-9169 Thrust Washer in the 282-1775 Differential Gp. The new thrust washer is a direct replacement for the former 273-9169 Thrust Washer back to the machine FDB121-UP. The new 309-7671 Thrust Washer became effective in production with the machine FDB513-UP.

Originally, the former 154-6619 Thrust Washer was used in the 203-2289 Differential Gp. The former 154-6619 Thrust Washer did not contain tabs. The former 203-2289 Differential Gp was superseded by the new 282-1775 Differential Gp at the machine FDB121-UP. The 282-1775 Differential Gp contained the former 273-9169 Thrust Washer that contained tabs. The former 273-9169 Thrust Washer has been cancelled. The 203-2289 Differential Gp has been cancelled.

The new 309-7671 Thrust Washer is adaptable back to the start of production of the machines. In order to use the new 309-7671 thrust Washer in the 203-2289 Differential Gp on machines FDB1-120, you must machine the housing assemblies in the differential group. Refer to the special instruction that is listed above. The special instructions will provide information on machining the housings in order to accept the new thrust washers. The new washer that contains tabs became effective in production with the machine FDB121-UP.
