Description Of Change: The new preservation process that is used will allow for service part crankshafts to arrive at dealerships in a ready to install condition. The crankshafts will no longer require heavy cleaning and will have the oil plugs already installed.
Adaptable To: The crankshafts will be shipped in a Rust Preventative Inhibitor (RPI) bag and coated in light preservative oil. The oil can be cleaned off the journals as needed using standard solvents for inspection prior to installation into an engine. The new process is show below.
Note: Crankshafts packaged in the new RPI bags should be removed from the crate in a clean area. Do not remove the bags until in the assembly area to maintain proper cleanliness.
- The new RPI bag is placed inside a crate. The Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI) bag is laid inside the RPI bag.
