Wheel Bearings
The wheel bearings should be packed with grease and adjusted for each season.
Use the following procedure to service the wheel bearings:

- Lower the implement onto the ground and raise the walking beams off the ground.
Note: The depth adjustment may need to be set to a deeper setting. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Implement Adjustments" for additional information.
- Remove cap (1) .
- Remove cotter pin (2) from nut (3) .
- Remove nut (3) .
- Remove washer (4) and bearing (5) .

- Remove hub (6) from the axle.
- Remove seal (7) and bearing (8) from the hub.

- Clean the bearing and the hub.
Note: Replace any parts that are worn or damaged. Make sure that the grease fitting works properly.
- Pack bearings (5) and (8) with 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease. Fill hub (6) with 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease .
Note: Replace seal (7) whenever the hub is removed.

- Install bearing (8) into hub (6) .
- Install seal (7) into the hub.
- Coat the axle with oil. Slide hub (6) onto the axle.
- Install bearing (5) and washer (4) .

- Install nut (3) .
- Tighten the nut until the hub turns with resistance.
- Loosen the nut by one to two slots.
Note: The hub should turn freely. The hub should not have any end play.
- Install cotter pin (2) through nut (3). Bend the tab on pin (2) .

- Install cap (1) .
- Pump grease into the fitting on the hub.
- Install the wheel and torque the nuts.
- Repeat Steps 1 through 20 for the remaining wheels.
Walking Beam
walking beams The bearings for the walking beam should be packed with grease and adjusted for each season.
Use the following procedure to service the walking beams:
- Lower the implement onto the ground and raise the walking beams off the ground.
- Remove the tires from the walking beam that is being serviced.

- If necessary, remove the wheel hub from the walking beam (10) that is being serviced.
Reference: See "Wheel Bearings" for the procedure to remove the wheel hubs.
Note: The wheel hub must be removed for the wheel hubs (eight bolt) that are used on the center section of the implement.
- Remove cotter pin (8), nut (9) and washer (7) .
- Remove nut (14) and retaining bolt (11) .
- Remove spindle (13), washer (12), spacer (2) and walking beam (10) .
- Remove bearing (3) and bearing (6).
- If necessary, remove spacers (4) and spacer (5) for inspection. Reinstall the spacers or Replace the spacers.
- Pack bearings (3) and bearing (6) with 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease. Fill walking beam (1) with 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease .
- Install bearing (3) and bearing (6).
- Install spindle (13), washer (12), spacer (2) and walking beam (10) .
- Install retaining bolt (11) and nut (14) .
- Install washer (7), nut (9), and cotter pin (8) .
Note: Torque nut (9) to 37 ± 3 N·m (27.5 ± 2.5 lb ft).
- If the hub was removed, install the wheel hub on the walking beam (10) that is being serviced.

- Repeat steps 2 through step 14 for the remaining walking beams on the implement.
