Usage:

Engine Crankcase

Measure Oil Level

------ WARNING! ------

Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.

------WARNING!--------

1. Measure the oil level. The level should be between the FULL and ADD marks on the dipstick.

2. Add oil if necessary.

Cooling System

Check Coolant Level - Inspect

------ WARNING! ------

At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure.

Steam can cause personal injury.

Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

Remove the filler cap slowly to relieve pressure.

Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.

------WARNING!--------

1. Remove the filler cap slowly to relieve any pressure. Inspect the gasket. Replace it if necessary.
2. Maintain the coolant level within 13 mm (1/2 inch) of bottom of the fill pipe. Install the filler cap.

Air Tank (If Equipped)

Drain Water and Sediment

Open the drain valve on the air tank and drain the water and sediment. Close the valve.

Fuel Tank

Drain Water and Sediment

Drain the water and sediment from the fuel tank at the start of a shift or after the fuel tank has been filled and allowed to stand for 5 to 10 minutes.

After changing the fuel filters, always prime the fuel system to remove air bubbles from the system.

Use only fuel as recommended in the "Coolant, Fuel and Lubricant Specifications" section of this guide.

Air Cleaner Indicator

Check Air Cleaner Indicator

NOTICE

Service the air cleaners with the engine stopped.

Change the air cleaner elements when the indicator diaphragm enters the red zone.

Marine Gears (MG506 or MG509)

Measure Oil Level

1. Measure the oil level with engine at low idle speed and marine transmission in neutral. Oil level should be between the FULL mark and 25.4 mm (1.00 inch) above the FULL mark on the dipstick.

2. Add oil if necessary.

If the marine gear dipstick has not been marked, drain the marine gear, install the drain plug and add 4.7 liters (5 quarts) for MG506, 8.5 liters (9 quarts) for MG509 Shallow Case and 13.2 liters (14 quarts) for MG509 Deep Case. Put a mark on the new dipstick at the oil level shown on the dipstick.

Clutch Shift Collar

Lubricate

Lubricate one fitting.

Water Separator

Drain

NOTICE

The engine should never be allowed to run with the water level in the element (1) more than 1/2 full or engine damage may result.

1. Close the fuel supply valve, if equipped. Open separator drain (2) and separator vent (3) valves.
2. After water is drained, close the vent valve and drain valve, and then open the fuel supply line valve.
