Usage:
After the engine starts, and at frequent intervals while the engine is operating, the gauges should be observed for proper readings.
Fuel
Indicates the level of fuel in the tank. Electrically operated, it registers only when the key switch is ON.
Fuel Pressure
Indicator should register in NORMAL (green) range. When filter element becomes clogged, indicator moves to OUT (red). When indicator is OUT, wash primary fuel filter and replace secondary fuel filter element.
Ammeter
Indicates the rate of battery charge or discharge.
Tachometer
Indicates engine RPM. The engine can be operated between rated speed and high idle without damage, but should not be allowed to overspeed (such as when going downhill).
Oil Pressure
Normal pressure is 45 to 60 psi (310 to 415 kPa) when the engine is running at rated engine speed with oil at operating temperature. A lower pressure, 10 psi (70 kPa) minimum, is normal at lower idling speeds. If no pressure is indicated, stop engine immediately.
Water Temperature
Normally registers between 170° (77°C) and 195°F (90°C). Somewhat higher temperatures may be experienced under certain conditions. Maximum allowable temperature 210°F (99°C).
