When reporting the repair, use "PS53284" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. Use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code. |

PROBLEM
The existing fan drive bearings can fail on certain 120K, 120K2, 12K, 140K, 140K2, and 160K Motor Graders. If the existing bearing fails, it can cause a loss of machine cooling. |

ACTION REQUIRED
Rework Procedure Prepare the Machine Note: Permit only one person on the machine. Either keep others away from the machine, or keep other personnel in the sight of the operator. 1. Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location. Move away from any machines that are working and any personnel. 2. Lower work tools to the ground. 3. Move the transmission control to the PARK position. 4. Activate the parking brake. 5. Release the hydraulic pressure. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for instructions. 6. Stop the engine. 7. Place blocks in front of the wheels and behind the wheels. 8. Turn battery disconnect switch to the OFF position. 9. Remove the bolts in the service door. Remove the service door from the enclosure. Repeat the procedure for the opposite side. 10. Remove the belts from the fan drive. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly ?Alternator ? Remove and Install?. 11. Remove the fan from the fan drive. 12. Remove the fan drive from the machine. 13. Disassemble the fan drive to inspect the components. 14. Inspect the fan drive shaft, bearings, and fan hub for any damage. If any of the components are damaged, replace the damaged components with like parts. 15. Pack the fan bearings with grease before installation. 16. Assemble the fan drive. 17. Install the fan drive to the machine. 18. Install the fan to the fan drive. 19. Install the belts to the fan drive. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly ?Alternator ? Remove and Install?. 20. Install the service door to the enclosure. Install the bolts to secure the service door. Repeat the procedure for the opposite side. 21. Turn battery disconnect switch to the ON position. 22. Start the engine and run at low idle. Ensure that the machine is operating correctly. |
