Cylinder Block (Without Spacer Plate)

Usage:

(1) Oil hole for rear bearing for the camshaft should be installed to depth of .56 in. (14.2 mm) from rear face of block.

(2) Install 2H2330 Bearings for camshaft with oil hole in alignment with hole in oil pocket above bearing.

(3) The 2H2330 Bearing between No. 3 and 4 cylinders have the oil hole toward center of engine. The 2H2330 Bearing for the front of the camshaft should be installed deep enough for the oil hole to be in alignment with the oil pocket in block.

(4) Depth of bore for liner in block ... .498 to .500 in.(12.65 to 12.70 mm)

Maximum permissible bore depth after reconditioning ... .545 in.(13.84 mm)

Height of liner over block, under installation pressure ... .0060 ± .0028 in.(0.152 ± 0.071 mm)

Maximum permissible difference in height of liners next to each other ... .002 in.(0.05 mm)

Maximum permissible difference between high and low measurements made at four places around each cylinder liner ... .002 in.(0.05 mm)

(5) Bore in block for camshaft bearing ... 2.874 to 2.875 in.(73.00 to 73.03 mm)

(6) Bore in front bearing for accessory drive shaft ... 1.7330 to 1.7355 in.(44.018 to 44.082 mm)

(7) Install tubes so that notches cut in the tubes are in alignment with "V" marks stamped in front and rear of block. The scribe marks on front tube and center tube must be in line. The tube should be installed even with rear of block and to depth of .38 in. (9.65 mm) from front of block.

(8) Bore in block for main bearings ... 4.9888 ± .0005 in.(126.716 ± 0.013 mm)

(9) Clearance between main bearing caps and cylinder block ... .0000 to .0005 in.(0.000 to 0.013 mm)

Maximum permissible clearance between cap for main bearings and cylinder block ... .0012 in.(0.030 mm)

Install caps with part number toward front.

(10) Torque for nut holding cap for main bearings (lubricate stud threads and washer face):

a. Tighten all nuts to ... 140 ± 5 lb. ft.(190 ± 7 N·m)

b. Put mark on each nut and end of stud.

c. Tighten each nut from mark ... 120°

(11) Torque for bolts ... 75 ± 10 lb. ft.(100 ± 14 N·m)

(12) Assembled plug must be below surface.

(13) Torque for studs for main bearing cap ... 260 ± 30 lb. ft.(354 ± 40 N·m)

(14) Make expansion of 5H1029 Tube Assembly to make a tight fit, then flare end of tube.

(15) Dimension (new) from centerline of crankshaft bearing bore to top of block (top deck) ... 24.1870 ± .0025 in.(614.350 ± 0.064 mm)

(16) Dimension (new) from centerline of crankshaft bearing bore to bottom of block (pan rails) ... 6.9985 ± .0015 in.(177.762 ± 0.038 mm)
