Put smooth surface of seal (2) against carbon surface of seal (1).

(5) Clearance between impeller face and housing ... .005 to .020 in.(0.13 to 0.51 mm)

NOTE: Hit shaft with soft hammer on end of nut (4) before making measurement. Change the clearance with shims (3).

(6) Torque for nut ... 55 ± 5 lb. ft.(75 ± 7 N·m)

(7) Shaft must turn freely when assembled in adapter with nut (4) installed.

(8) Put lubricant in bore in housing when installing cover with seal in place.

(9) Put 8H5137 Sealing Compound on stud threads.
