Fuel Pump Drive Gear And Automatic Timing Advance

Usage:

Remove Fuel Pump Drive Gear And Automatic Timing Advance

start by:

a) remove timing gear cover

1. Turn the crankshaft until the "C" mark on crankshaft gear (2) is in alignment with the "C" mark on camshaft gear (1).

2. Put a mark on the idler gear and on the fuel pump drive gear at location (X). Put a mark on the idler gear and on the camshaft gear at location (Y).

NOTE: This procedure is necessary to make sure the timing of the engine is correct when the fuel pump drive gear is installed.

3. Remove bolt (3) and washer (4).

4. Install bolt (3) to the position shown. Use tooling (A) to loosen the pump drive gear from the camshaft. Remove the bolt and washer. Remove the fuel pump drive gear and automatic timing advance as a unit.

Install Fuel Pump Drive Gear And Automatic Timing Advance

1. Install the fuel pump drive gear and automatic timing advance as a unit. Make sure the mark on the fuel pump drive gear is in alignment with the mark on the idler gear.

2. Install the spacer and bolt. With the timing pin in the groove (slot) of the fuel injection pump camshaft, tighten the bolt to a torque of 110 ± 5 lb.ft. (149 ± 7 N·m).
