PRODUCT SUPPORT PROGRAM FOR INSTALLING A NEW PROPEL CONTROL ORIFICE IN
CERTAIN CB-434 COMPACTORS

NOTE: This Program can be administered either before or after a
failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program
is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS4596"
as Part Number, "7755" as Group Number, and "96" as Description
Code.

The propel sensitivity for acceleration, deceleration, and changing direction
on certain CB-434 Compactors may be more aggressive than desired.

If the customer requests smoother operation of the controls for acceleration,
deceleration, and changing direction, a new control orifice can be installed
as follows:
1. Remove the 9N6007 Filter-Remote Engine Oil.
2. Disconnect the two 5E8376 Hose Assemblies at the pump hydraulic control
and cap them to prevent contamination. Remove the 5E9894 Hose Assembly
(return to tank) and plug to prevent draining the hydraulic tank.
3. Use a 5 mm allen wrench. Remove the six 5E8787 Cap Screws and lift the
control away from the housing.
4. The orifice check valve is located at the surface of the pump housing
face in the control block. Remove the spring retainer and spring from
the orifice check valve cavity and then remove the existing orifice
check valve and replace it with the new 6R4333 Orifice Check Valve.
5. Replace the 5E8753 Control Block gasket and engage the pin on the
control linkage in the mating hole in the link attached to the
swashplate. Position the control in place against the pump housing,
align the gasket and install the cap screws. Tighten the cap screws to
a torque of 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
6. Replace the 9N6007 Filter and check to make sure the engine oil level is
correct. Connect the two 5E8376 Hose Assemblies and the 5E9894 Hose
Assembly that were disconnected in Step 2.
7. Operate the machine to verify smooth propel modulation.
