Problem

The right hand conveyor motor needs to be inspected for proper port
orientation on certain AP-800B Pavers. If the port orientation is not
correct, the conveyor motor will need to be removed and rotated 180 deg. to
insure proper feeding of the asphalt to the screed.

Action Required

Inspect the right hand motor to make sure the "A" port of the motor is up.
See Illustrations 1 and 2. If the "A" port is up no further action is
required.
If the "A" port is not up, remove the motor. Rotate the motor 180 deg. then
install it making sure the "A" port is up.
Disconnect the electrical harness at the electronic displacement control
(EDC) on the conveyor auger pump. Remove the pins from the connector on the
harness. Reverse the position of the pins and then install them in the
connector. This will reverse the polarity and flow.

The right hand conveyor motor needs to be inspected for proper port
orientation on the products listed below. If the port orientation is not
correct, the conveyor motor will need to be removed and rotated to insure
proper feeding of the asphalt to the screed. The repair will be done at no
cost to you.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately and schedule a time to have
this service performed. The repair time for this service is approximately
two hours. Please refer to the April 21, 1991 Service Letter when scheduling
the service.
