Rework Procedure

For 583T and 587T Pipelayers.

To ensure no leakage of fluid upon removal of the Fan Pump Pressure Sensor (237-0957) and Old Adapter (205-3079), attach tooling (Vacuum Cap FT-1114,Vacuum transducer 5P-0306, Fitting 6V-4142, and Pipe Fitting 5K-5068) to the hydraulic tank of the machine. Attach an air supply hose to the tooling. Applying 276 kPa (40 psi) to 414 kPa (60 psi) of air to tooling will pull a vacuum on the hydraulic system.

Remove the eight bolts that hold the radiator guard doors in place (C) along with the two bolts (A) and Protective Plate (B) that reside directly below the Radiator Guard on the front of the machine. See Image 1.1.1
Image1.1.1

Locate the Fan Pump Pressure Sensor (237-0957) (A) and Old Adapter (205-3079) (B). Remove the tie-strap (C) from the sensor lead. See Image 1.2.1
Image1.2.1

Disconnect and remove Fan Pump Pressure Sensor (237-0957) and Old Adapter (205-3079) from the machine and replace with New Orifice Adapter (327-5880) as well as a new Fan Pump Pressure Sensor (237-0957).

NOTE: Ensure the placement of correct o-rings on the threaded end of the Orifice Adapter (o-ring 3J-1907) as well as the Fan Pump Pressure Sensor (o-ring 1J-9671).

NOTE: Loop the sensor leads exiting the back end of the sensor to provide proper strain relief. Ensure the seal is not distorted. Use a tie-strap (7K-1181) (C) (Image 1.2.1) to secure both the remaining length of the sensor leads and the connector to the welded chain link.

Re-install the protective plate and two bolts that reside directly below the radiator guards.

Re-install the 8 bolts that hold the radiator guard doors in place.

Remove the Vacuum Pump (CAT part numbers FT-1114, 5P-0306, 6V-4142, and 5K-5068) from the hydraulic tank.

For D8T

To ensure no leakage of fluid upon removal of the Fan Pump Pressure Sensor (237-0957) and Old Adapter (205-3079), attach tooling (Vacuum Cap FT-1114, Vacuum transducer 5P-0306, Fitting 6V-4142, and Pipe Fitting 5K-5068) to the hydraulic tank of the machine. Attach an air supply hose to the tooling. Applying 276 kPa (40 psi) to 414 kPa (60 psi) of air to tooling will pull a vacuum on the hydraulic system.

Remove the two floor plates in the cab (marked A and B) See Image 1.3.1

Disconnect and remove Fan Pump Pressure Sensor (237-0957) and Old Adapter (205-3079) from the machine and replace with New Orifice Adapter (327-5880) as well as a new Fan Pump Pressure Sensor (237-0957). See Image 1.5.1

Use a tie-strap (7K-1181) (C) (Image 1.5.1) to secure both the remaining length of the sensor leads and the connector to the ladder clip.

Re-install the two plates in the floor of the cab.

Remove the Vacuum Pump (CAT part numbers FT-1114, 5P-0306, 6V-4142, and 5K-5068) from the hydraulic tank.
