New Connecting Rod Bolts Are Available for C175 Engines{1218, 7553} Caterpillar

Introduction

The new 428-7386 Bolt replaces the former 290-2541 Bolt .

Problem

The existing stock of 316-0062 Connecting Rod and 316-0063 Connecting Rod contain six 290-2541 Bolts to secure the connecting rod cap to the rod.

Solution

Order six 428-7386 Bolts when you order the 316-0062 Connecting Rods or 316-0063 Connecting Rods . The new 428-7386 Bolt has elastomer rings bonded to the shank of the bolt. The bolt requires special care to avoid damage during assembly. Due to contamination and assembly concerns with the bolt, do not replace the currently installed bolts until the connecting rods are installed in an engine. Place the 428-7386 Bolts in the connecting rod packaging to avoid damage until installed into the engine. Refer to Specifications, "Connecting Rod - Type 1" for assembly instructions.
