System Pressure - Release
- Use the following procedure to relieve the pressure from the pump system.
- Turn the engine to the off position, disengage the transmission, and shut off fluid being delivered to the suction lines connected to the pump manifold.
- Make sure that all the engine systems are locked out or cannot be started while repairing the pump.
Note: A restriction can produce excessive pressure in the discharge system which can damage all components in the discharge system.
- Make sure that the discharge line does not have a restriction.
- Make sure that the relief valve on the discharge system is open. Do not operate the pump without a needle relief valve or a low torque valve installed on the discharge side of the fluid end.
- Verify that the pressure has been relieved from both the suction and discharge sides of the fluid end.
- The fluid end or pump should no longer have system pressure.
