Incorrect Positioning of Magnet In Return to Dig System for Certain 910K Compact Wheel Loaders {5112} Caterpillar

Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

Reports have been received that the incorrect positioning of magnet on 486-3797 Rod As in return to dig system. The return to dig function may not work due to incorrect position of magnet.

Solution

In the event of failure, inspect the position of magnet on 486-3797 Rod As. If wrong , refer to the below inspection and rework procedure to correct the position of the magnet.

(1) 486-3797 Rod As (A) Magnet dimple (B) Magnet (C) Plate (D) Rod

1. Magnet dimple (A) should be at upper side.

2. The plate (C) should be placed at right side.

3. Check the position of the rod (D) is placed above the plate (C).

Rework Procedure

(B) Magnet (E) C profile pin

1. Remove the C profile pin (E) with 2.0 mm (0.08 inch) diameter bar like drill bit.

2. Rotate the magnet (B) to 180 degree.

3. Reassemble the removed C profile pin (E).
