Ensure that all of the messages are legible. Clean the messages or replace the messages if the words cannot be read or if the illustrations are not visible. Use a cloth, water, and soap for cleaning the messages. Do not use solvents, gasoline, or other harsh chemicals. Solvents, gasoline, or harsh chemicals could loosen the adhesive that secures the messages. The messages that are loosened could drop off of the engine.
Replace any message that is damaged or missing. If a message is attached to a part of the engine that is replaced, install a new message on the replacement part. Your Caterpillar dealer can provide new messages.

Hot Fluid Under Pressure (1)
The safety message for hot fluids under pressure is located on the cover of the fuel filter and the cover of the oil filter.

Filter contains hot pressurized fluid when engine is running. Follow instructions on control valve to avoid injury if rapid air movement exists to blow fluid. Stop engine to avoid fire. |

Electrical Shock (Fuel Injectors) (2)
The safety message for the fuel injectors is located on the electronic control module (ECM) (1) and the valve covers (2).

The ECM sends a high voltage signal to the fuel injectors. To help prevent personal injury, disconnect the fuel injector connector. Do not come in contact with the harness connector for the fuel injector while the engine is operating.

The safety message for lifting the engine is located on the valve covers.

Pressurized system! Hot coolant can cause serious burns, injury or death. To open the cooling system filler cap, stop the engine and wait until the cooling system components are cool. Loosen the cooling system pressure cap slowly in order to relieve the pressure. Read and understand the Operation and Maintenance Manual before performing any cooling system maintenance. |
