Housing (Front) - Remove

Usage:

C32 RND

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the expansion tank. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Expansion Tank - Remove ".

  2. Remove the water pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Water Pump - Remove".

  3. Remove the auxiliary water pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Auxiliary Water Pump - Remove".

  4. Remove the crankshaft front seal. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft Front Seal - Remove".

  5. Remove the front engine support. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Trunnion - Remove and Install".

  6. Remove the alternator. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Alternator - Remove and Install".


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Remove covers (1).

  2. Remove bracket (2).

  3. Reposition fuel filter assembly (3).

  4. Remove bolts (4) and remove bracket (5).

  5. Remove bolts (6) and dampers (7). Disconnect the harness assembly behind damper (7).

  6. Loosen flanges (8).

  7. Remove adapters (9).

  8. Attach a suitable lifting device to front housing (10). The weight of front housing (10) is approximately 67 kg (148 lb).

  9. Remove bolts (11) and bolts (12).

  10. Remove front housing (10) and the gasket.
