3456 (S/N:: C3G1-UP; C4G1-UP)

Introduction

The battery charger power supply circuit fuse is too small on 3456 and 3406 common design generator set packages.

Problem

On 3456 and 3406 Common Design (PGAG) generator set packages, the battery charger power supply circuit fuse ( 190-2558 Fuse ) is too small and may fail. This failure may result in the loss of power to the battery charger. If there is a loss of power to the battery charger, the package batteries will not be charged and may drain to a level insufficient to start the generator set. In this case, the generator set controller will cease operating.

Solution

  1. Locate the battery charger power supply circuit fuseholder (F17) which is located in the generator set package terminal box.

  1. Open fuseholder F17 and replace the existing 6 Amp fuse ( 190-2558 Fuse ) with a new 10 Amp fuse ( 6V-7802 Fuse ).

  1. Close fuseholder F17 and check the battery charger for proper operation.
