  1. Loosen the clamp and disconnect air inlet hose (4) from the turbocharger, if equipped.

Note: The turbocharger is not installed on the D3G Track-Type Tractors and on the D4G Track-Type Tractors.

Note: Make sure that you plug the inlet for the turbocharger during the removal procedure. This helps prevent contaminants from entering the system.

  1. Remove the two bolts and receptacle assembly (5) for the jacket water heater.

Note: Note the position of exhaust stack (2) for installation purposes: The exhaust stack should be oriented at a 45 degree angle from the centerline of the machine. Refer to Illustration 2.

Note: Note the position of the clamp for the engine exhaust stack. The bolt for the clamp should be oriented toward the front of the machine. The side of the clamp with the bolt should be installed 35 mm (1.4 inch) above the downward slope of the hood.

  1. Loosen nut (2A) on the clamp and remove engine exhaust stack (2). Remove the bolts from engine hood (3) .

  1. The preferred method for removing hood (3) is with a suitable lifting device. However, two people can remove engine hood (3). The weight of the engine hood is approximately 45 kg (100 lb).

Note: The precleaner remains with the engine hood when the engine hood is removed.

Installation Procedure

  1. The preferred method for lifting engine hood (3) onto the machine is with a suitable lifting device. However, two people can lift engine hood (3) onto the machine. The weight of the engine hood is approximately 45 kg (100 lb).

Note: During the installation of the engine hood, the precleaner remains attached to the engine hood.

  1. Install the bolts in engine hood (3) .

  1. Position engine exhaust stack (2) at a 45 degree angle from the centerline of the machine. Refer to Illustration 3.

  1. Position the clamp for the exhaust stack so that the bolt for the clamp is oriented toward the front of the machine. The side of the clamp with the bolt should be installed 35 mm (1.4 inch) above the downward slope of the hood. Tighten nut (2A) on the clamp to a torque of 25 ± 7 N·m (18 ± 5 lb ft).

  1. Use two bolts to install receptacle assembly (5) for the jacket water heater.

  1. Connect air inlet hose (4) to the turbocharger, if equipped. Tighten the clamp.
