953C TRACK-TYPE LOADER HYDRAULICS Caterpillar

Bucket Kickout Adjustment Procedure

Usage:

NOTE: Tighten all 3/8 nuts to a torque of ... 12 ± 4 N·m (9 ± 3 lb ft)

NOTE: Roller (4) must turn freely.

(5), (24) Torque for nuts ... 12 ± 4 N·m (9 ± 3 lb ft)

(C) Dimension ... 2 ± 1 mm (.08 ± .39 in)

1. Remove pin (6). Loosen bolt (2) and turn setscrew (20) counterclockwise until it does not contact the crossmember.

2. Move tilt control lever (17) to the spring-centered position.

3. Loosen locknuts (12) and (14) on rod assembly (13).

4. Turn rod assembly (13) to get length (A) of 100 ± 10 mm (3.9 ± .4 in).

5. With the tilt cylinder retracted, put lever (10) perpendicular (in a vertical position) to the cylinder axis.

6. Adjust the position of bearing assembly (15) to get clearance (C) of 2.0 ± 1.0 mm (.08 ± .04 in) between signal roller (11) and face (B) of bar assembly (13).

7. With the tilt cylinder extended, put signal roller (11) against face (D) of bar assembly (9).

8. Adjust the length of rod (8) to align the center of roller (14) with the center of tilt cylinder pin (22).

9. Install pin (6).

10. Put tilt cylinder control lever (17) in the RACK BACK detent (maximum counterclockwise position).

11. Adjust tube assembly (23) as far forward as possible.

12. Position clip (3) on lever (1) so that the slot in clip (3) is centered with bolt (2).

13. Adjust lever (1) so that clip (3) contacts roller (14).

14. Adjust setscrew (20) at point (E), three full turns from the crossmember.

15. Adjust clip (3) downward on lever (1) until tilt cylinder control lever (17) moves to the spring-centered position. Tighten bolt (2) to hold clip (3) in place.

16. With levers (1) and (16) against tube assembly (23), tighten locknut (19) on setscrew (20) at point (E).

17. With the bucket at the desired kickout angle, put tilt cylinder control lever (17) in the RACK BACK detent (maximum counterclockwise position).

18. Turn rod assembly (13) to shorten the rod until tilt cylinder control lever (17) moves to the spring-centered position.

19. Tighten nuts (12) and (14) to a torque of 150 ± 20 N·m (110 ± 15 lb ft).

20. Remove pin (6) and lengthen rod (7) by one turn, clockwise.

21. Tighten the locknuts on rod (7) and install pin (6).

22. Adjust visual indicator plate (21) so that it is in alignment with the step on bar assembly (9).
