Description of Change: An improved connecting rod bearing is available for use in 3600 Diesel Engines. The new rod bearing has an improved service life for certain cyclic marine applications. The bearing is expected to achieve the published maintenance intervals in this same application. All other applications will continue to use the currently published maintenance interval schedule.

Adaptable To: The new 227-2902 Connecting Rod Bearing can be used in place of the 142-8615 Connecting Rod Bearing and the 246-7542 Connecting Rod Bearing. The 227-2902 Connecting Rod Bearing is adaptable to all of the 3600 Diesel Engines that are listed above.

Refer to Specifications for the proper tightening procedure.

The connecting rod bearing is effective with the following serial numbers that are listed in Table 1.
