NOTE: The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program. Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.
NOTE: This Program can be administered either before or after a failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS4811" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "T" as the SIMS Description Code. If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
NOTE: Although this Program can be administered either before or after a failure. It is recommended that the inspection be completed as soon as possible

The bolts used to secure the pivot shafts on certain 953 Loaders may not have been the correct part number. Failure can result in broken bolts, damage to the threaded holes in the loader frame, and/or damage to the pilot bore in the loader frame.

- 18 - 7X2563 Bolt
Action Required
The affected product should be inspected to determine if 8T4187 Bolts were installed in the pivot shaft. If 8T4187 Bolts were used, there will be either a gap between the head of the bolt and the pivot shaft flange or a gap between the pivot shaft flange and the loader frame. If it is determined that the 8T4187 Bolts are installed, remove them, repair any resultant thread damage and/or damage to the bolt pilot bores. Install 18 new 7X2563 Bolts. Tighten the bolts to standard torque.
