Start By:
- Remove the accumulator. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic Accumulator (Low Pressure) - Remove".
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
The accumulator is filled with dry nitrogen. Sudden release of nitrogen pressure can cause personal injury. To avoid personal injury, release the nitrogen pressure from the accumulator before disassembly. |

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
Note: Ensure that the pressure in the accumulator has been released before you disassemble the accumulator.
- Rotate the accumulator so that base (3) is facing upward.
- Remove O-ring seal (5).
- Remove bolts (4).
- Lift base (3) from cover (1).
- Remove diaphragm (2).
