Installation Procedure

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

1. Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

2. Lift accumulator (3) into position on the control valve.

3. Align accumulator (3) with the control valve, and place the accumulator into position.

4. Apply Tooling (A) to bolts (4) that secure accumulator (3) to the hammer.

5. Install bolts (4). Tighten bolts (4) to the proper torque specification. Refer to Specifications, "Hydraulic Accumulator (High Pressure)". Tighten the bolts in a star pattern.

6. Charge the accumulator. Refer to the Service Manual, "Hydraulic Accumulator - Test and Charge".

7. Tighten plug (2). Refer to Specifications, "Hydraulic Accumulator (High Pressure)" for the torque specifications.

8. Install plug (1) and the O-ring seal. Tighten plug (1). Refer to Specifications, "Hydraulic Accumulator (High Pressure)" for the torque specifications.
