Tighten drain plug (1) to the following torque. ... 40 ± 5 N·m (30 ± 4 lb ft)

Apply 1U-8846 Liquid Gasket to four areas on the sealing surface of the oil pan. The areas are marked location (Y) . The areas are at the corners of the oil pan in the following locations:

• connecting joint of the front housing and the front of the cylinder block

• connecting joint of the flywheel housing and the rear of the cylinder block

Use the following procedure to tighten the bolts for the oil pan.

1. Tighten four bolts (X) .

2. Start with bolt (Z) and tighten all remaining bolts in a counterclockwise sequence.

   Tighten the bolts to the following torque. ... 31 ± 3 N·m (23 ± 2 lb ft)

3. Again, start with bolt (Z) and tighten all remaining bolts in a counterclockwise sequence.

   Tighten the bolts to the following torque. ... 31 ± 3 N·m (23 ± 2 lb ft)
