Upper Front Suspension Mounting is Failing on Certain 773F and 775F Off-Highway Trucks{7051, 7201} Caterpillar

Off-Highway Truck:

773F (S/N: EED1102-UP; EXD110-UP)

Quarry Truck:

775F (S/N: EYG1-UP; DLS1080-UP)

Introduction

Problem that is identified below is being evaluated by OHT Product Support on a case by case basis. Until permanent solution is known, use the solution identified below.

Crack on plate

Reports from the field indicate cracking on the production (factory) installed vertical plates located on the machines listed above. The crack occurs at the upper front suspension group mounting areas of the 245-4681 Frame Gp .

The cracks are appearing on both the left and right side vertical plates. The plates are located on the sides of the 341-4752 Plate As (binocular plate) on the upper front suspension mount.

The above problem does not affect field service installed plates.

Solution

Caterpillar is aware of the problem. Submit photos of failed area explaining the location of the failure through the Dealer Solution Network (DSN) regarding CPI issue number 296652.
