Installation of the 247-4472 Air Lines Group on Certain PM-201 Cold Planers{1071} Caterpillar

Cold Planer:

PM-201 (S/N: PNM1-UP)

Introduction

This Special Instruction provides information for the installation of the 247-4472 Air Lines Gp .

Do not perform any procedure that is outlined in this publication, or order any parts until you understand this information.

Parts Required

Machine Preparation

1. Set the steer mode switch to the rear steer only mode.

2. Start the engine.

3. Park the machine on level surface.

4. Raise the engine hood and set the safety rod.

5. Raise the machine fully using the machine elevation controls and install service support leg locks for all legs.

6. Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position.

7. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

1. Remove the 12 screws that hold plate (1) located in between the two rear tracks.

2. With a ladder gain access to the engine compartment through opening (2) .

3. On the cooling side, loosen the two clamps (3) that hold tube (5) with the hump hose (4) .

4. On the turbo side, loosen clamp (6) and separate hose assembly (7) from turbo (8) .

Note: Keep all the old clamps for reuse if necessary.

5. Pull tube (5) until the tube comes off the hump hose (4) .

1. Install 9S-4182 O-Ring Plug (13a), 214-7566 O-Ring Seal (13b) and 8C-3089 O-Ring Seal (14) .

2. Insert 217-8946 Elbow (12) in the small side of 398-9607 Reducer Hose (10) and 398-9609 Tube (11) in the large side of the 398-9607 Reducer Hose (10) .

3. Connect 398-9609 Tube (11) to hose (4) and tighten clamps (3) .

4. Connect 217-8946 Elbow (12) to turbo (8) and tighten clamp (6).

5. Tighten 9X-2201 Hose Clamp (15) to a torque of 12 N·m (9 lb ft).

6. Loosen clamps (16) and move the clamps clockwise or counter clockwise so, they are away from any possible contact with 398-9609 Tube (11) and 398-9607 Reducer Hose (10) .

   Note: Make sure to use two clamps on each side of the hump hose and use the appropriate torque 12 N·m (9 lb ft).

7. Remove 4 hex head screws (16) from plate (17) and install the new 7U-4898 Screw (18).

   Note: Use anti-seize on the new screws.

8. Install plate (1) .
