Introduction
The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until the permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.
Problem
Incidents of lost configuration data have been reported on machines which have been in storage. A loss of configuration data could occur on certain Transmission Electronic Control Modules (ECM). The ECM is most susceptible when engine cranking is attempted with a discharged machine battery. When the loss of data occurs, the machine will not start and there is no engine cranking as the product identification number has been deleted from the ECM.
Solution

Typical example |
When loss of the configuration parameters is identified, do not replace the machine ECM. Use Electronic Technician (ET) to check the configuration of the transmission ECM. If the product identification number is not visible then enter the machine serial number. The machine serial number can be found on the left side of the front chassis. The letters in the serial number must be upper case. Refer to Illustration 1. After the serial number has been entered turn the key to the OFF position. Leave the key in the OFF position for one minute in order to allow the ECM to reset. Check and recharge the machine batteries before starting the engine.
