Spacer Plates

Usage:

Remove & Install Spacer Plates (3408)

Start By:

a. remove cylinder heads

1. Remove water seals (1) from the spacer plate.


NOTICE

Do not damage dowels (2) as the spacer plate is removed.


2. Remove spacer plate (4) and gasket (3).

NOTE: The following steps are for the installation of the spacer plate.

NOTE: The top of the block, both sides of gasket (3) and the bottom of spacer plate (4) must not have ant fuel, oil, water or gasket adhesives on any surface.

3. Install gasket (3) and spacer plate (4).

4. Install water seals (1).

5. Check the cylinder liner projection. See the topic "Install Cylinder Liners".

NOTE: For more information regarding spacer plates see the topic "Spacer Plate" in Special Instruction Module Form No. SEHS9564-01.

Remove Spacer Plates (3412)

Start By:

a. remove cylinder heads

1. Remove water seals (1) from the spacer plate.

2. Install six 3/8 "-16 NC Forcing Screws (2) in spacer plate (5). Tighten the screws evenly until the spacer plate (5) is free of the dowels. Remove gasket.

3. Remove the O-ring seals from locations (3) and (4) under the spacer plate.

Install Spacer Plates (3412)

1. Make sure the spacer plate and the machined surface of the cylinder block are clean and free of dirt and foreign material.


NOTICE

Both surfaces of the spacer plate gasket and the top of the cylinder block must be clean. Do not use a gasket adhesive on these surfaces.


2. Put a new gasket (2) over the dowels and install O-ring seals (1) on the cylinder block.

3. Install spacer plate (3).

4. Install new water seals in the spacer plate.

5. Check the cylinder liner projection. See the topic "Install Cylinder Liners".
