PROBLEM
The existing 1678720/">167-8720 Low Precistion GPS Antenna can fail on certain 24H Motor Graders, 777F, 793C, 793D, and 797F Off-Highway Trucks, 834H and 844 Wheel Dozers, and D10T Track-Type Tractors and Non-Caterpillar Products. If the existing 1678720/">167-8720 Low Precistion GPS Antenna fails it will no longer allow the GPS receiver to report positions to MineStar Office. |

Remove and replace the 1678720/">167-8720 Low Precistion GPS Antenna if the date code indicates that it was manufactured prior to March 2012. The date code is in DDMYYxxxx format. Example from Image1: 175110124 would be May 17th, 2011. Note: Verify that the date code of the replacement antenna is March 2012 or later. Refer to the attached Rework Procedure. Note: Please refer to Image2 for a list of Non-Caterpillar Products. If any of the machines on this list have a 1678720/">167-8720 Low Precistion GPS Antenna, please proceed with the update using the Parts Needed. When entering a claim for a Non-Caterpillar Product, use serial number 99Z00082. Also enter the actual Non-Caterpillar Products serial number in the Related Serial Number field (8 positions or less). Note: Please include the unit serial number in the claim story. |

PARTS DISPOSITION
Hold all 1678720/">167-8720 Low Precistion GPS Antennas for 30 days for a possible Parts Return Request (PRR) through the Send-It-Back process. Make sure to list the service letter program number on the packing slip and include the closed work order paperwork. If a Parts Return Request (PRR) is not issued to you after 30 days through the Send-It-Back process, handle the parts in accordance with your warranty bulletin on warranty parts handling. |

Remove and Replace 1678720/">167-8720 LPGPS Antenna 1. Disconnect the 343-8458 cable from the 1678720/">167-8720. 2. Remove the nut and metal washer from the 1678720/">167-8720 Antenna. See image 1.1.1 3. Remove the antenna. 4. Install the replacement 1678720/">167-8720 Antenna. 5. Apply metal washer and install the nut. Tighten to 20+/-2 ft/lbs. 6. Connect the 343-8458 cable. Tighten to 10+/-1 inch/lbs. See image 1.1.2 NOTE: Do not over tighten the connector of the 343-8458 cable. Note: Refer to Special Instruction, REHS8809 for additional installation instructions. |
