SPF343 and SPF343C Trailer Mounted Pumpers Caterpillar

Coolant Level - Check

Usage:

SPF343 6RZ

------ WARNING! ------

Pressurized System: Hot coolant can cause serious burns. To open the cooling system filler cap, stop the engine and wait until the cooling system components are cool. Loosen the cooling system pressure cap slowly in order to relieve the pressure.

------ WARNING! ------

Climbing equipment may be required to access this service point. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Mounting and Dismounting"
topic for safety information.

Note: Refer to this Operation and Maintenance Manual, Refill Capacities and Fluid Recommendations for the amount and recommended coolant.

Check Coolant Level

The pumper is equipped with a jacket water expansion tank with a coolant level gauge (1). Observe the position of the coolant level in the gauge. At normal operating temperature, the proper coolant level is in the upper half of the gauge. If the coolant mixture is low, add the proper coolant mixture.

Add Coolant

  1. Stop the engine. Allow the engine to cool.

  2. Remove the cooling system filler cap (2) slowly to relieve any pressure. Pour the proper coolant mixture into the filler (2).

    Gaskets

  3. Clean the cooling system filler cap. Inspect the gaskets of the cooling system filler cap. If the gaskets are damaged, replace the old cooling system filler cap with a new cooling system filler cap. Install the cooling system filler cap.

  4. Start the engine. Inspect the cooling system for leaks.
