An Improved Radiator Tube Assembly is Now Available for Certain 789D Off-Highway Trucks {1353}

Usage:

789D SHH
Off-Highway Truck/Tractor:
789D (S/N: SPD1-UP; SHH1-UP)

Description of Change: An improved radiator tube assembly is now available for certain 789D Off-Highway Trucks. The improved tube assembly offers increased durability and service life.

Adaptable To: The new 462-2849 Tube As is part of the radiator group and is adaptable to the following machines:

  • SPD1-669

  • SHH1-319

The new hardware is effective with the following machines:

  • SPD670-UP

  • SHH320-UP

Use the following two installation procedures depending on if the machine has a service group installed.

Installation Procedure for Machines Without a Service Group

  1. Prepare the machine for service and drain coolant before servicing the radiator group.

  1. Remove hose clamps (A), the hose assembly connected at elbow (B), and 367-0805 Tube As (C) and mounting hardware. Retain the hose assembly and mounting hardware.

  1. Install tube assembly (1) to the flange on the radiator bottom tank using O-Ring seal (2) and mounting hardware retained from Step 2.

  1. Insert the other end of tube assembly (1) to the hose assembly and install two hose clamps (3) .

  1. Install elbow assembly (4) to the boss on the side of tube assembly (1) and orient as shown in Illustration 2. Reconnect the hose assembly removed in Step 2.

  1. Install plug (5) to the boss as shown in Illustration 2.

  1. Prepare the machine for service and drain coolant before servicing the radiator group.

  1. Remove hose clamps (A), the hose assembly connected at elbow (B), 367-0805 Tube As (C) and mounting hardware. Retain the hose assembly and mounting hardware.

  1. Disconnect 351-5704 Hose As (D) from both ends. Remove check valve (E). Remove 5P-8874 Adapter (F). Retain hose assembly (D), check valve (E), adapter (F), and mounting hardware but discard O-Ring seals.

  1. Install tube assembly (1) to the flange on the radiator bottom tank using O-Ring seal (2) and mounting hardware retained from Step 2.

  1. Insert the other end of tube assembly (1) to the hose assembly and install two hose clamps (3) .

  1. Install elbow assembly (4) to the boss on the side of tube assembly (1) and orient as shown in Illustration 2. Reconnect the hose assembly removed in Step 2.

  1. Install adapter (5) and O-Ring seal (6) to tube assembly (1) .

  1. Re-install check valve (E) that was removed in Step 3 with one O-Ring seal (7) and one O-Ring seal (8) .

  1. Install the straight thread end of hose assembly (D) and O-Ring seal (9) to the tube assembly on the back of the service center box where hose assembly (D) was removed in Step 2.

  1. Install the swivel end of hose assembly (D) to check valve (E) and install mounting hardware removed in Step 3. Adjust slack as required to avoid rubbing.

  1. Install bracket assembly (10) using existing mounting hardware from the panel. Secure hose assembly (D) using one clip (11), one bolt (12), and one washer (13) .
