Start By:

  1. Remove the control valve from the hammer. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly, "Control Valve - Remove".

  2. Remove the pressure control valve from the hammer. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly, "Pressure Control Valve - Remove".

  3. Remove the check valve from the hammer. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly, "Check Valve - Remove".


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Remove bolts (1).

  2. Use two of bolts (1) as pusher bolts to separate cover (2) from control valve (3).

    Note: Tighten bolts (1) evenly and in an alternating order.

  3. Remove O-ring seal (4) from cover (2).

  4. Repeat Step 1 and Step 3 for the remaining cover.

  5. Remove spool (5) from valve bushing (6). Spool (5) can be removed from either side of the control valve.

    Note: Note the orientation of the “X” marks on the spool and the valve body for installation purposes.

  6. Remove spool (7) and spool (8) from spool (5).

  7. Remove plugs (9) and O-ring seals (10).

  8. Remove plugs (11) and O-ring seals (12). Remove orifice (13).

  9. Use a suitable lifting device to position control valve (3) onto a suitable press. Refer to Table 2 for the approximate weight of control valve (3).

  10. Use Tooling (A) and a suitable press to remove valve bushing (6) from control valve (3).

  11. Remove seals (14) from valve bushing (6).
