966G Wheel Loader and 972G Wheel Loader Power Train Caterpillar

Secondary Steering - Program

Usage:

972G 1EW
Submode 23 is used in order to enable the optional secondary steering attachment in the power train ECM. Submode 23 is used in order to disable the optional secondary steering attachment in the power train ECM. The procedure to enable the optional secondary steering attachment follows:

  1. Use the 4C-8195 Control Service Tool to enter Transmission Calibration Mode (8) via the "MODE" switch. Then enter submode 23 by using the "SCROLL" switch.

  1. Use the INCREMENT (+) position of the "CLEAR" switch in order to change the selection. Press and release the switch in order to select SS0 or SS1. SS0 disables the optional secondary steering attachment in the power train ECM. SS1 enables the optional secondary steering attachment in the power train ECM. There is external hardware that is necessary for the optional secondary steering attachment. If the external hardware is enabled but the external hardware does not exist, fault codes may be logged.

  1. To exit submode 23, scroll to the next submode by using the "SCROLL" switch or exit the Transmission Calibration Mode by using the "MODE" switch.

Submode 24 is used in order to select the shift control input that is used in the power train ECM. This selection is controlled by the configuration of the machine. If the machine is equipped with transmission direction and speed control lever (1), SF0 must be selected. If the machine is equipped with transmission direction control switch (2), transmission upshift switch (3), and transmission downshift switch (4), SF1 must be selected. The procedure to select the shift control input of the machine follows:

  1. Use the 4C-8195 Control Service Tool to enter Transmission Calibration Mode (8) via the "MODE" switch. Then enter submode 24 by using the "SCROLL" switch.

  1. The display will show the current shift control input that is selected. SF0 is used with a machine that is equipped with transmission direction and speed control lever (1). SF1 is used with a machine that is equipped with transmission direction control switch (2). Use the INCREMENT (+) position of the "CLEAR" switch in order to change the selection. Press and release the switch in order to select SF0 (transmission direction and speed control lever) or SF1 (transmission direction control switch).

  1. To exit submode 24, scroll to the next submode by using the "SCROLL" switch or exit the Transmission Calibration Mode by using the "MODE" switch.
