Parking Brake - Remove and Install

Usage:

924G 3DZ

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Drive Shaft - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.

  1. Disengage the parking brake.

  2. Remove bolt (1) and remove retainer (2).

  3. Remove brake drum (3).

  4. Remove bolts (5).

  5. Remove brake assembly (6). When you remove brake assembly (6), lever assembly (4) will fall.

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.

    To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.


  6. Remove springs (6) and separate brake assembly (7).

Installation Procedure

  1. Assemble parking brake (7) and install springs (6).

  2. Install lever assembly (4) and install brake assembly (6).

  3. Install bolts (5). Tighten bolts (5) to 120 ± 20 N·m (89 ± 15 lb ft).

  4. Install brake drum (3).

  5. Install retainer (2) and install bolt (1). Tighten bolt (1) to 120 ± 20 N·m (89 ± 15 lb ft).

  6. Adjust the parking brake. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Parking Brake Control - Adjust" for the correct procedure.

End By:

  1. Install the drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Drive Shaft - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
