Usage:
Water used in the cooling system should be clean, and as free as possible from scale forming minerals or corrosive chemicals. Softened water should not be used. Treating the water with Caterpillar Coolant Inhibitor will prevent the formation of rust and prevent pitting. It will also retard, and in some cases completely eliminate mineral deposits in the engine.
The most efficient and satisfactory corrosion protection for the cooling system is accomplished by maintaining proper level of coolant, inhibitor and antifreeze solution. The use of auxiliary water filters is not necessary or recommended.
During freezing weather add sufficient permanent type antifreeze to the coolant to prevent freezing.
Most commercial antifreeze solutions contain rust inhibitors, however, it is recommended the adding of Caterpillar Coolant System Inhibitor to glycol base antifreeze if protection is for temperatures above -20°F (-29°C). If protection is for temperatures -20°F (-29°C) or below, do not add inhibitor. Follow instructions given on the container.
Inhibitor contains alkali. Avoid contact with eyes. Avoid prolonged or repeated contact with skin. |
