Problem
A potentially hazardous condition has been identified with certain Power Modules. The radiator fan motor wiring harness in the floor of the standing switchgear could get shorted during Power Module transport or in service. The 480 Volt, three phase power leads from the main terminal bus to the radiator fan motor circuit breaker can be pressed against the lower left edge of the 128-1781 Panel Cover. If the edge of the sheet metal cover of the switchgear compartment penetrates through the wire insulation, it is possible that this condition could result in a severe electrical hazard.

Rework Procedure
Turn off all power and lockout all power supplying this equipment before working on or inside equipment. This equipment must be serviced by qualified electrical personnel only. Always use a properly rated voltage sensing device to confirm power is off. Immediately inspect the radiator fan motor power leads routing in the switchgear compartment, by removing the 128-1781 Panel Cover. This is a U-shaped panel with approximately 4" deep sides that bend 90 degrees. Verify that no damage has been done to the wiring and insulation. Modify the 128-1781 Cover Panel by cutting the lower corner of the left 4" side at a 45 degree angle, starting at the bend, as in Illustration 3. This will allow for clearance of the wire bundle. Apply a Trim-Lock Edge Guard over the cut surface and also over the lower bracket gusset as shown in Illustration 3. This gusset will be directly below the notch created by the modification described above. Inspect the cable routing and make sure all rubber grommets in the holes in the back panel are fully installed. Install tie-wraps as required to secure the wire bundle to the insulated ladder brackets before re-installing the 128-1781 Panel Cover. Replace all other devices, doors, and covers before turning power on to this equipment and returning unit to service.
