NOTE: This Program can be administered either before or after a failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS4320" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "T" as the SIMS Description Code. If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

NOTE: This Revised Service Letter replaces the January 29, 1998 Service Letter. Changes have been made to the Affected Product and Service Claim Allowances.

Problem

Certain 3508, 3512, and 3516 Marine Engines suffer cracks in the weld joint between the casting and steel outer shell of the exhaust manifold.

Action Required

0-5000 Hours

Install 1375549, 1375550, 1375551 Supports and (4) 1375552 or (4) 1435184 Adapters as required using 0S1594 Bolts and 9X6458 Washers.

If engine is equipped with 8N9303 Air Cleaners, remove the 7W5409 Support and install a 1375557 support assembly using 2A4639 Bolts.

Replace the exhaust manifold only if cracked.

5001-15000 Hours

Repair the cracked exhaust manifold using SEBF8246, Guideline for Reusable Parts Salvage, "Salvage of Weld on Water-Cooled Exhaust Manifolds".

Install the supports and adapters as above.
