These engines are built in a modern manufacturing plant where each engine has to pass dynamometer performance checks. These tests require runs at idle speed followed by progressive increases to 45 minute full load operation. Instrumentation and inspection diagnose any need for adjustment or examination to assure high dependability.
Services other than the care and maintenance adjustments, as described in this book, should be performed by trained personnel. Authorized dealers are recommended for major repair operations as they are staffed with trained servicemen, equipped with proper tools, Caterpillar parts and are informed as to advanced service methods.
