New Camshaft And Lifter Kits Available For Slipper Type Cam Followers (Valve Lifters){1209,1210}

Usage:

3200 Family Of Engines;
6.25"
Bore Engines

Reference: Information Release Memo (IRM), Form PELE0095, ENG89-1, "Camshaft Kits."

New camshaft and lifter kits are available for the 3200 and 6.25" Bore Engines which have slipper type cam followers (valve lifters). Each kit includes the camshaft, lifters and a container of cam lubricant. The kit for 3208 Engines also includes the cam gear.

The new camshaft has harder lobes, improved heat treatment and larger No. 1 and No. 2 bearing journal diameters. These changes have improved resistance to lobe pitting and torsional vibration.

These parts are serviced as a kit because it is necessary to match the new camshaft to new lifters. Use of worn slipper cam followers (valve lifters) may result in shortened cam lobe life and poor engine performance. Use the cam lubricant because it will ensure adequate lubrication at start-up and during break-in.

Individual camshafts will no longer be serviced. Individual lifters will be serviced.

The charts list the part numbers of the kit, camshaft, lifters and the sales model. There is one camshaft and enough lifters to repair one engine per kit.
