Usage:
Challenger 65 Tractors
Description of Change: A new magnetic pickup assembly (speed sensor) is used in the Challenger 65 Tractors. A new harness is also required with the new magnetic pickup assembly.
Adaptable To: The new 5N9292 Magnetic Pickup Assembly replaces the former 6T9688 Magnetic Sensor. The new 8R3716 Harness Assembly replaces the former 3W8748 Harness Assembly. There is no difference in the function or troubleshooting procedure. The new magnetic pickup assembly and harness are effective with Challenger 65 Tractor 7YC1065.
Both the new and former parts will continue to be serviced. Either the former or new can be used on any tractor, but the Sure-Seal® connector will have to be changed on the harness, with the 6V3000 Sure-Seal Kit, if the former sensor is used with a new harness or vice versa.
NOTE: Do not attempt to change the Sure-Seal connector on the sensor.
Wiring schematic.
To modify the harness for use with a different sensor, remove both the pin and the socket from the former Sure-Seal plug or receptacle, by pulling on the wires. Insert both the pin and socket into the new plug or receptacle, using the 6V3008 Insertion Tool, part of the 6V3000 Sure-Seal Kit. Polarity of the connector is not important (it is not necessary to remove the pin and socket from the wires and reverse them).
Part numbers of the Sure-Seal housings are as follows. Both housings are included in the 6V3000 Sure-Seal kit.
